Grandma Jean

My grandma recently died, she loved yellow roses and writing poetry.

The Funny Side of It by Jean Ellis

I thought I would sort out my funeral
Had the vicar up for tea,
We went through the reading, the psalm and the hymns,
Well, they mean a lot to me.

Yellow roses for my coffin,
With the joyful hymn of praise,
How Jesus triumphed over death,
We can, if we mend our ways.

I don't mind dying really,
I've had a wonderful life,
With good children and friends around me,
Been a mother, Grandma and wife.

I'm hoping to get to heaven,
I'm hoping to past the test,
But St. Peter will probably say,
"Get back in the queue with the rest."

But I do believe God's promise,
His love is everywhere,
The waiting will not have been in vain,
And I hope to see you all there!

So thank you folks for listening,
To all the things I've said,
Oh! The one thing I forgot to mention,
Will you please make sure I'm dead!

The End
